TRANSITION II

This work was conceived during pandemic while observing people’s resistance to accept accumulating scientific evidence.

Individual fragments are attached to the canvas one by one in a repetitive process that mimics the time-consuming and laborious experiments and analyses to produce each piece of data. As data accumulates, seemingly disjoint observations give rise to new hypotheses and more experiments and analyses, solidifying to become proven concepts. Then comes a critical point where the amount of information is sufficient to become accepted knowledge.

But acceptance is not immediate. There is resistance—people’s unwillingness to let go of preexisting concepts creates tension and distance to cover. As the processing of new information is unique to each individual, the viewers are looking at themselves in two distanced mirrors giving them a chance to ponder what do they need to be convinced in the face of mounting evidence.
