Collage / 100x100 cm / "Transformation"
The presented work is made in the technique of mixed media. This composition became the starting point for a new series of works.
The idea arose in 2020 during isolation due to the coronavirus.
I came up with the idea to do something here and now with what I have at the moment, a kind of acceptance of the situation and the realization that conditions are not acceptable for creativity.
I started using everything I had at hand.
I had a canvas measuring 100x100 mm with unfinished work, and I decided to continue it in the form of a collage. I started using everything I had at hand and pasting it on canvas. It was wrapping paper from shoe boxes, sheets from magazines, parchment paper, and chocolate wrappers.
When I saw the effects of combining different materials, I was even more inspired and began my immersion in creating something new and unexplored, but very exciting for my inner aesthete.
The process of creating this piece saved me from disappointment, despondency and boredom during a difficult period. At that time, many people were at a loss, and I was so pleased with my creative process that I forgot the reason for my imprisonment in the house, and the small space of the room turned into a huge world.
I noticed the beauty of each combination and rethought the values, the process of combining individual elements into one composition supported me psychologically, it was a powerful creative flow, and it was therapeutic creativity.
Foil inserts also appeared for a reason. It's like a symbol of sincerity and love for what I do. This idea is based on my interest in Japanese philosophy and the art of Kintsugi, a technique for glueing broken dishes, which gives them an even more beautiful and authentic look. This technique is present in my work as a way to find values. To this, I added reflections on ecology and recycling as global and relevant topics.
As a result of the work, many conclusions and reflections were made that, perhaps, if there had not been this limitation and the opportunity to slow down, they would not have happened. Imperfections and limitations cease to oppress, acquire new meanings and open up new possibilities.
This topic is very deep, as I often turn to the meanings that are embedded in it. Unfortunately, there are many destructive events in the world, and when we are empathetic, we face destructive processes within ourselves.
And like this collage, we assemble ourselves in parts, glueing together the wounds of our soul to preserve all the beauty inherent in man.
The world is imperfect, but we can create, and we have the power to make it better by starting with ourselves, and then we will become worthy components of this world.
The work is called "transformation" because a broken soul, even after healing, acquires a new look, new experiences and new scars. And this transformation path is different for everyone. I think every viewer has had their own experience of reinvention and transformation, and they will find the answer by remembering their transformation.
Why does the author see this work as relevant for this competition
This work is not only an example of contemporary art but also a significant contribution to sustainable development and caring for nature. Created from recycled materials that could be discarded and pollute the environment, it demonstrates how the process of transformation and reflection can turn garbage into a work of art.
Meaning and Significance
The author of this work sees in his work not only a means of self-expression but also a way to convey an important message to society. By turning waste into artistic objects, we not only decorate modern interiors but also contribute to environmental education. This painting becomes a symbol of respect for resources, demonstrating that even from used materials you can create something beautiful and meaningful.
The future of art and sustainable development
The author sees the prospect of continuing this idea far beyond paintings and murals. In the future, such objects may become an integral part of the interior and exterior, including wall decoration, sculpture creation and furniture decoration. This approach not only reduces the amount of waste but also introduces unique art objects into our environment, which carry important ecological meanings.
Contribution to nature and society
Caring for nature is manifested not only in the act of recycling materials but also in the creation of objects that stimulate society to think about sustainable development. Such works can be exhibited not only in museums but also in private homes, strengthening the impulse to spread the ideas of recycling and respect for nature.
