Acrylic and shellac on paper
The submitted work is a portrait of Nancy Cunard (1896-1965). She lived during the 1920s in Paris and profiled there as a very political and feminist acting person in the circles of intellectuals and artists. She was a protagonist of "Africanism." This movement of the early 20th century, which is very current today, was dealing with the idea Europe have to learn from Africa. I am impressed how consistently Nancy Cunard lived her values. To my knowledge, she had no fellow campaigners or role models.
