This work portrays a moment of ecstasy, it is peace that triumphs in pleasure, it is light that expands. The title of the work refers to a poem by the poet Salvatore Quasimodo, 'Ed è subito sera' ('And it is immediately evening'), referring in particular to the second verse of the poem 'pierced by a ray of sunshine', which indicates a happiness that at the same time constitutes joy and pain. The painting is an immersion in the colour yellow, which seems to evaporate into lighter colours, intended to indicate the transience of emotions, which like a light cloud envelop the ecstatic face of the girl portrayed. The emphasis in this work is on impermanence and the joy of living.
