Since 1980, when China's family planning policy began to be implemented, grandparent child rearing has become one of the special phenomena in family ethics. As a member of its policy, my parents went out to work, and my grandparents cared for me throughout my childhood, and they poured all their love into their only child. Through conversations with grandparents, nursery rhymes, photographic records and the collection and re-creation of old objects in childhood houses, a series of mixed-material paintings and ready-made installations are presented. I hope to expand my personal experience and discuss the family as a unit, and turn it into a portrayal of social groups and collective thinking under the whole policy. Based on the aesthetics of small towns before large-scale urbanization in China, the author discusses the contradictory relationship between family relations, youth and senescence under this social phenomenon. At the same time, the work also serves as a bridge to reconnect me with my family and enhance my experience of the concept of family in society.
