The Mediterranean island of Lampedusa is often the first point of
arrival for people seeking asylum or looking to keep moving north to
other European countries.
Over the past week, more than 7,000 migrants have arrived in Lampedusa
on flimsy boats from Tunisia. More continue to reach its shores. The migrant
reception center only has capacity for 400 migrants, prompting the local
authorities to declare a state of emergency. Of course I cannot give a solution for all the problems deriving from that theme but I would like to show that every single one is a human being with dignity, dreams and feelings. In any case it is a great tragedy if someone lost his life by fleeing from war, violence and hunger.
