This is a small watercolour/charcoal painting painted from life [ whilst standing in the sea] and is one of the sketch paintings I am developing a lot more work from. I especially love horses and we made a special journey here [ a World Heritage Unesco occupation] last year. The fishing families have graciously said I can come back and paint amongst them. This place is poignant for my husband as he was brought up in a marine family on the French/Belgian border [ as it was then].To be able to stand in the water and sketch and roughly paint was a source of great happiness for me. I produced a few such sketches , most of which I gave to the fishermen. [ so much more fun than just giving them a photo-for me anyway.] I particularly liked this dappled horse who was quite old and very patient.I also like drawing with charcoal/it has a rough immediacy.
