Candace is sometimes completely taken over by a powerful force to paint which is so strong , it must be obeyed immediately. She describes the feeling as a dam breaking its banks..the energy is that strong. Her 4 part series "The Shifting of my Tectonic Plates"is a case in point. and this is the first in the series.
The colour red here is root chakra, the chakra of survival. It is a primitive energy which is well conveyed by the impasto and force of the brush strokes. The blue reflects the clairvoyant or 6th chakra which so many of us uses to guide our lives even if subconsciously. The gemstones Candace uses are always intuitive choices...she is"told" which ones to use. In this case, the pyrite grounds while protecting from negative forces while the lapis lazuli helps with creativity, communication and self expression. This painting is all about these things.
It is an extremely powerful painting which will definitely shift the viewers' vision of self and place in the world.
