THE REEF: Artstudio
Dicken's contribution to the theme of water, environment, sustainability and
how it effects us. The viewer's attention is drawn to the centre
where tiny dots represent the huge diversity of animal life, reminiscent of
colourful fish. But let us start from the outside, where the wild ocean's
dangerous waves of grey and darker blue lead into shallower areas of wonderful
blue themes, with white showing the waves dashing against the reef. The longer
you look at it, deeper into it, the more details appear. At first the viewer
might see the wildness, but then you find the softness and the perfection of
the colours' harmonies in every aspect of the painting.
The Venetian lagoon - does
it care about its wildlife and fish, is there enough space for humans and
nature? How many colourful fish are still in the lagoon at all? Are we not all
drawn to the wonderful images of nature's perfection with its opulence of
species. The more the viewer reflects on this image, the more it reveals its
beauty and depth. Just enjoy these moments - they echo the infinite.
