My work explores issues of colonialism alongside those of race and class, through painting. I examined, in particular, the construction of identity and tangled interrelationship between Africa and Europe and their respective economic and political histories through wine and weaved basket. I ask what constitutes our collective contemporary identity today. I was drawn by the color red, which symbolizes the struggle of Africans by the Europeans but somehow wine brings us together regardless of race
