The Tower of Babel Series.
In mythological times, thousands of years ago in the ancient
city of Babylon, all human beings spoke the same language. Among them, a group
of powerful people ordered the construction of a building which they named the
'Tower of Babel'. They wanted to create a tower that would be high enough to
reach up to the kingdom of the Gods.
The Gods got angry and destroyed this tower, dividing all
human beings into different linguistic groups, and scattered them all over the
world. These divided groups were unable to understand one another, resulting in
conflict and war.
Nowadays, human beings again are building new towers of
Babel across the world. Intoxicated by the omnipotence that technology and
modernity provide, humans today believe that they can achieve all of their
desires by exploiting and sacrificing the Natural World - without any limits.
The ancient tower of Babel was built of brick.
The new tower of Babel is built upon the pain and grief of
animals.
It is a meat block tower.
Just as the Gods of the ancient world retaliated and
destroyed this cruel tower, so will the Natural World destroy this modern
tower.
Destruction is inevitable before a new world can be created.

Through these paintings, I wanted to express the story of
the Tower of Babel, and of human civilization. From ancient to modern times,
the human species has cruelly trampled on the Natural World, slaughtering and
enslaving animals.
Massive destruction of the ecological environment and
endless pollution are just the tip of the iceberg.
Our cruel exploitation of the Natural World is the root
cause of the Climate Crisis.
