The Irises ( inks, acrylics and soft pastels on wooden board)

This painting is created with inks, acrylics and soft pastels on the wooden board. I have applied a set of fundamental laws of traditional Japanese visual art regarding technicality,  composition, an esthetic refinement of the outcome and leaving of commonality of daily Earthy life. The painting is a complex multi-layered work with a slight impasto effect, reflecting my experiments with inks and soft pastels. This artwork has spiritual appeal because irises have a special symbolism for wisdom, truth, and courage, while the gold area signifies a transcendental Upper Realm.
