Exploring spiritual, emotional, and intellectual resonance of symbols, colors, and texture Akshita Gandhi’s painting The Dream, conjures the Anahata – the emotional center and seat of love. Vertical brushstrokes sometimes interrupted by repeating short fervent horizontal strokes in ink and paint resemble the energetic shifts of meditation or the natural world. To situate the work into her lived experience, speaking to nostalgia, Gandhi merges pop-cultural and architectural elements into the work. Influenced by tantric painters from the art historical canon such as Natvar Bhavsar and Sohan Qadri (who in turn where deeply engaging in color-field painting and minimalism) Gandhi explores the subconscious through color and symbolism. The Dream serves as an expression of Gandhi's inner life.
