Being a mother of two young adult girls I have seen with alarm the increasing cases of mental health issues in their group of friends and indeed in their age group. In this painting I show a girl who while beautiful is shrouded in a wreath or crown of decay, pushing her down and engulfing her. She is in pain but still remains whole to the viewers eye.
