Almost all images of women we know in the history of art come from the hands and the point of view of a man. Even in the 21st century the image of women tends to conform into a certain standard that is always set by a society dominated by the rules of men. Women have always struggled to live a life within the limits of what is acceptable for whoever, but herself. This is my personal version of Manet's beautiful Olympia, without the grace and the malice of the original. The subject is even a little bit annoyed but definetely more truthful to a real woman. Brides in korea wear a traditional head garment that looks like a little hat, decorated with colored objects and sometimes precious materials. The lady in the painting is a bride, with a very unusual bride's hat, and a fire extinguisher "rosso cuore".
