Four circus characters keep civilisation nicely balanced on its ‘pillar-of-civilisation’, even as the myriad of complex forces threatens to tilt the entire system one way or the other, or to topple it altogether. But the feisty clowns use colourful paper airplanes and tight wire walkers’ long poles to keep everything in on an even keel. The circus characters, the creative people in society, are balancing the entire machinery of world, portrayed as the two hemispheres on the pillar’s lintels.
