My
art explores the overarching theme of an individual: a soul within
herself, within society, within the world.
The
figure is the center of interest in my paintings, surrounded by
abstract background or the elusive world. It can be a figure of a
person or a demon – the image of a human being embodying
emotions and thoughts (as in Vrubel). With this research I am
gradually assembling a general image of my Contemporary.
I
work with language of expressive poses, bright colors, the
combination of textures. I use mixed media and various techniques. I
believe that each material has its own dramatic intonation which I
use as an abstract component of my work. This abstraction provides
the space for individual associations. This is what completes my
artistic statement and makes the dialogue with the beholder genuine.
"The
aisle"
I
feel that my role as an artist is that of a chronicler of my time and
I base my work on this position. Therefore the war is a dominant
theme in my work for the last year and a half.
We
have found ourselves in a complete different world, where our
previous goals and ideas does not work anymore. Our mind is filling
up with ashes, burned pine forest with so many souls, stories, family
histories lost in it, marked with crosses between black trunks.
The
white figure is the embodiment of our hopes. Without strength, it
sank to the grass of the narrow aisle between the forest of the
irrevocable. But with the gaze the figure raises itself upward, along
the charred walls of the forest, in the hope of a new humanity. A
three-part icon of hope.
The
alcohol ink glows through the oil brushes. Strokes are very
decorative on the pines and messy and abstract on the grass in the
middle, reflecting the turmoil of the white soul.
