TERRACQUA:
terribile: l’indifferenza. Tagliati i legami domestici e familiari, sfuggiti
promessa.

“Land-water”:
exits
Nowadays
news and goods, but not people, runs freely everywhere in the world. But news
and goods are not escaping from something, men are. They are getting away from
fear and hate, distruction and death, too often finding something just as
terrible: indifference. Having cut out domestic and family ties, having escaped
from the suffocating tangles of violent and dispotic régimes, men ends up, if
they are not swallowed by the sea, to be stranded by other ties, other
prohibitions, as if they are forced to live behind a grating that limits their
freedom as well as their view.
But hope
resides in a different way of seeing things: a rope can tie hands, but it can
also be used to grasp those of a castway, and, at the same time, a border can
be a limit and a doorway, an end or a new beginning, a disappointment or a promise.
