"STARDUST"
My paintings are sheets of stainless steel gilded with gold leaf or brass.
I work with acids, shellac, pigments, alcohol and hot air.
For me, these paintings represent the nonsense of the origin: the man
thinks to have an origin, either physical, or spiritual, a beginning and an end
... That seems to me too simple, too animal; it's just a tiny part of our life.
We are an assembly of atoms in a physical form that we know but the atoms
are there since the Big Bang and they were probably there before. And
they will be there until the next Big Bang ... and after. The atoms that
constitute us have belonged to other living forms, and for billions of years to
come they will belong to other living forms. We are only dust of stars.
My paintings attempt to express exactly that: star-dust representing an
image of the cosmos. They have no "meaning": they can be hung in
different ways and they do not have "origin"; assembled for a time,
they are only atoms in the form of oxides.
They are ephemeral. Like us.
