In the Ifa tradition, women were considered the
pillars of society as seen here in the figure on the left, a depiction of a
veranda post focusing on the back of the King’s wife. Today the Black woman’s role has become far
more complex and challenged by today’s conventions.
Although times have changed, the role of the
female energy remains as important in society, so she cannot just be defined by
her beauty and sexuality alone. The intelligence of that energy, which has
always been a pillar of traditional African societies, is what is missing in
today’s halls of power.
