The ‘sound paintings' under the common project name ‘making sound visible’ are traces of various objects which are being moved across canvas by the sound. The works are all about random physical processes that cannot be fully controlled by an artist but also about artistic decisions that are made in a response to the processes initiated by the sound. The translation of the (digital) sound onto canvas is therefore not only a technical process but moreover an artistic technique which doesn't involve painting by hand, just the way we know it in the digital domain. The artwork itself is, however, an "analog" painting just like any other, thus being a trace of digital art in the analog world.
