The work depicts a multilayered web of metal beams, turbines and bricks which are woven inside a faintly distinguishable outline of a tree. The composition is built on the principle of multiple exposure, or overlay. The icy, dead shades are contrasted with a crimson-red spot that reminds us of a red-hot metal glow. The title of the series "Symbiosis" is intended to adjust the viewer's optics while interacting with the work. Symbiosis refers to all types of relationships between organisms in which at least one organism benefits for itself. This concept illustrates the coexistence of such opposite principles as natural and man-made, living and dead, bright and colorless. I explore the properties of contrasting environments, how they interact and merge. In particular, I am interested in such processes as destruction and recycling of natural materials in a hyper-consumption environment. I wonder about the consequences of such an attitude towards nature and offer my own, alternative view of the mankind's and nature's coevolution. My work was greatly influenced by the vedutas of Canaletto. I am attracted by his photographic accuracy in depicting architecture, down to the smallest details, as well as graphicity combined with a special sense of the depth of the pictorial space. I strive for the same level of detail in my work.
