“Semantics of pink” explores the human ability to perceive an image ‘s properties, such as form and colour, and apply semantic attributes to it. The portrait, created by superposition of glazing layers of aerosol paint on pastel and ink underpainting, aims to challenge the viewer, as the process of face recognition becomes more difficult, semantic associations become more important. Meaning is attributed to each feature based on previous experiences, cultural beliefs and values.
