Through pictorial languages like painting and drawing, I explore the human body and the tenebrous emotions. Human body is the primary means by which a person encounters the outside world. Moreover, our body is a limited, but also, an infinite space where emotions and thoughts flow endlessly. I am particularly interested in how these emotions are expressed through the movements and postures of the body in the situation. They interact with the space in which they are located and influence the surrounding atmosphere. I start my work by observing the people around me. I interpret the physical attitudes of those who share my daily life. So my work starts with the photos I took myself. My work is completed through the process of reinterpreting these photos with my own color and composition. And I project myself on them as I would do with a mirror. Therefore, my works become self-portraits that reveal the most intimate sides of me.
The shadow which is the physical and metaphorical translation of melancholy in my work represents the extension of the human body, by isolating the person. For me, it is a psychological mirror that is shown by light. And it represents us as silhouettes.
My work focuses on the inner emotions that allow me to get closer to the intimate being. Touching the tension and diving into our deeper emotions for more understanding around us.
