In this society, everyone yearns for something, yet they do not know what they are yearning for. Perhaps it's a yearning for inner serenity and physical comfort, much like yearning for a life of material and spiritual richness. However, what they do not realize is that the object of their yearning is something they will never attain, as "yearning" in itself is a paradox. Aspiration lies ahead of life, how can life surpass aspiration? The white bed in this painting may be the representation of people's so-called "yearning". Everyone is on the outside, yearning to step in, to lie down and reap the fruits of their labor. The glass barrier, acting as genetic blockade, prevents them from breaking through. Each person can only admire from outside the barrier, and over time, admiration turns into resentment. This society, laden with resentment, forms an ominous queue, much like the 20 individuals in the painting. Their bodies are drenched in red, seemingly passionate but in truth, angry. They seem to admire, but in reality, they are envious. They seem so close to their yearning, yet they are forever isolated. This is the reality. Just like in the painting, there are too many circles in this society. Those outside each circle wish to get in, yet they can never realize that they are the ones truly free. Is everything inside the glass barrier really better? Or does it more closely resemble a cage of thought?
Sometimes, we feel as though we're in a "Land of Gentle Thoughts", a place of ease where we can think freely. However, everything is an unverifiable illusion, even if it allows us to vividly see, touch, and even smell it. We can never break through the barrier of thought, no matter what. We are confused, yet due to our inability to think, we know nothing of our confusion. The greatness of humanity lies in our ability to "Self-Awakening"; the greatness of art lies in its ability to awaken slumbering humanity.
