Between 1600 and 1700, San Marco in Bocca Lama was indicated by cartography as a destroyed, lost island, as it can no longer be traced in the toponyms of the current lagoon area. Through research in the area between the Motte di Volpego and the Campanella canal, it was possible to trace the island, discovering the existence of the remains of a church dedicated to San Marco and an adjoining monastery. San Marco in Boccalama wants to propose through the engraving language the vision of a part of the lagoon bottom in which mysteries still reside.
