When I first started to portray people, I mainly focused on the people dearest to me: my mum, my father, then my whole family. It was a way for me to reflect deeper on what I was already familiar with. Later, I started portraying people outside my closest circle. Before beginning to work on my next piece, I always have long conversations with the person, often finding within myself their same feelings and experiences. The portraits thus can reflect both the discovery of the other and the rediscovery of myself. I favor the use of silicone because it is glossy and when it shines it gives me joy. The face of the subject is engraved on the surface of silicone, so that one can use their fingers to feel it. Indeed this kind of art is meant to be understood through its tactile experience.
