The awareness of the illusion is all the more effective when it can count
on certain expectations on the part of the observer. Placing yourself in front
of a hyper-realist painting, despite appearances, does not completely deceive
those who enjoy the work, because when the eye passes from the subject
represented to the edges of the painting, the discontinuity proves fatal to the
illusion. For this reason the "Sagomati" were born, which suggest a
reality that goes beyond the boundaries imposed by the traditional support to
invade a new field. The relationship between the painting and the spectator is
thus interpreted in a new way.
