I originally drew this as part of a #drawthisinyourstyle challenge by an artist on Instagram, Tara Spruit. Her original piece had a woman wearing une robe a la francaise (which she described as a dress with a cape attached). In my version, I used slightly different shades of blue for the robe francaise, and drew inspiration from Emily Warren Roebling, the woman who oversaw the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge. To show her involvement with the construction of the bridge, I drew the Brooklyn Bridge in the background and showed Roebling crossing the bridge holding a rooster, as she was allegedly the first person to cross the bridge, and did so with a rooster in her hands. Â
