My works act as metaphors for the fabric of African/Black life, historically ruptured but providing the possibility of forging new forms. A vital aspect in the process of the making of these works is the idea of creative destruction. The term is allied with Nietzsche, Marx, economics and Hinduism. However, for me, this process is from Yoruba culture and metaphysics as told by Wole Soyinka, the Nobel Laureate for literature, in his book, Myth, Literature and the African World.
