"Reframe my boundaries", Oren Meyuhas creates art based on discarded materials he finds on the street. His works incorporates human figures, which he usually places at the edge of the painting and reveals only a narrow portion of their body, leaving his viewers to complete the characteristics of the painted figure. Although these characters are drawn with empathy and emotion, there is also humor and sarcasm in the way they are placed.
Of particular interest is the meaning that Oren finds associated with waste materials originating in the urban world, more specifically, the world of consumerism. These are old wooden boards, patterned pieces, or plastic word signs, peeling cartons or even rusty iron discs. In all of these, Oren finds an excitingandhumanpotentialforrenewedcreativitythatmakesit an important and integral part of his artistic statement. He manages to expose the hidden inner layer of the substrate, transforms it into the body of the new figure and then paints the top layer of the painting, which is used in reverse, as a background to the figure.
