The series “Geisternetze” draws attention to the problem of so-called ghost nets, abandoned fishing nets which float in the seas — a deadly trap for many sea creatures. To highlight the problem’s global dimension the single works of the series have titles in different languages, each meaning “ghost net”.
The found-object prints are made by printing tarlatan which I had used before to wipe etching plates. Re-using this fabric soaked with ink to produce yet another work of art is a form of sustainable secondary use of my equipment.
