#qualitytime relates to the social media phenomenon (instagram) of pictures becoming more and more artificial, scenes more and more staged. Ordinary experiences like a family dinner - as shown in the painting - were once part of everyday life; now they are something rare and special - "quality time". The dinner table in the painting is elaborate and perfectly styled as is the group surrounding it; but each person is as empty as the salad bowl and without a real connection to the others.
