The work represents the first decimals of the famous irrational number PI (3,1415..), with a specific read direction starting from the center. A color is assigned to each digit (from yellow for 1 to light blue for 0, going through red).
The puzzle consists of a central disk surrounded by nine rings of equal width, divided into odd numbers of equal segments. The first ring is divided into three sections, the next one into five, etc… Considering the central disk there is a total of one hundred pieces, covering the same surface each. The central disk represents the number three, while the remaining 99 pieces stand for the first 99 decimals of the number ∏.
Half of the pieces are raised following a specific pattern to add a slight 3D effect.
