This painting comes from a series of works based of the concept of food in cinema, the possibilities of food and the way food and sexual desire are intertwined. Often in film food acts a third party - the viewer, the actor, and the food item. I look at ways food is used in language and without language to portray or evoke an array of emotions. This scene from Call Me By Your Name (by Luca Guadagino 2017) depicts main character Elio in his exploration of masturbation and desire. The scene talks of sexual impulse, and although shocking is incredibly intimate.
