I painted this piece after learning of the death of a close friend. I was imagining the journey of her soul and decided to let the piece paint itself. I worked in reverse: at first the image appeared to me as the head of an elephant with a rolled-up trumpet. I left it like this, but when I looked at it the next day, I saw the figure of a person standing in a praying posision - an image with which I connected. Winner of a 37th Artist Magazine Annual Art Competition Student Edition in category Abstract / Experimental.
