These "Portraits psychiatriques" ("Psychiatric Portraits") are done on white Canson paper in A2 format, with a blue stone and a brush. The technique used leaves room for a certain degree of uncertainty when tracing with the stone and then working on the reliefs with the brush, an uncertainty inherent to clinical description in medicine, by definition imperfect. They therefore exist in several copies, as many clinical descriptions.
The stamp signature is directly inspired by hospital stamps, applied for centuries on patient files.
