This was the first image that obsessed me during the lockdown. A giant warm popcorn floating through the interstellar void of emoticons, app logos, and skeletal fragments of a distant Vitruvian man. I felt, as the most of us, temporarily "trapped" in my 'post-digital' mind. From this perspective, this experience was like being ‘encapsulated’ in a collective social media lucid dream, where we were all ‘browsing’ awareness about our ‘sense’ of humanity. Also, I was rediscovering tones of hidden poetry under the skin of my/our daily (apparently) meaningless gestures. Despite all of the psychological effects caused by quarantine on our overrated ‘normality’, I think that isolation could be perceived as a vexing but insightful ‘inner body’ experience or a critical ‘odyssey’ into the biographical depths of our new domestic multiverse.
Beyond its petty symbolism, the floating popcorn stands as a visual metaphor for planetary overconsumption.
