PONTONS DE FORTUNE
IMPROVISED DOCKS
Series of 8 pieces 50x65cm, graphite and screentones on paper, Caubel Corène, 2017
This series refers to her discovery, one winter, of makeshift docks all around a swampland in the north of France. Staked out along the wet landscapes, these simple constructions by the locals reveal an ingenious reclaiming of space that teeters between land and water. Improvised using shutters, scaffoldings and bits of wood, somewhere new, while others were old and worn. Beyond that, this series intends to reveal the human ability to adapt and appropriate, in a modest way, the landscapes of water.
