POLIZEY, Nr. I-VI, 29,7 x 42 cm each
The series POLIZEY (the title is based on a fragment of a drama by F. Schiller) uses the medium of drawing to study incidents of documented police violence at demonstrations in Europe. Using coloured pencil on paper, several bodies of police officers, some of which merge into one another like pixels, are concentrated around a blank space at the moment of their intervention and attack: The respective gap indicates the place where the body of the demonstrator taken into custody by force actually appears. The drawings, however, deliberately refuse to depict the victims. Thus, the gestures of the police officers move into the foreground. The targeted movements miss their target. They punch, grab and throw themselves into the void.
