"Parallel Situations" consists out of 2 works - sculptural painting and the grid of drawings. My first submission presents the grid of drawings, and the second one is the painting. The concept describes both of them.
The installed artworks are the video-documentation of particular moments, shot on chosen
locations, which was later transformed into the abstract figures, placed on the surface according to
the point where the particular situation was filmed and reproduced in two variants: the grid of
drawings and spatial painting. The goal of the documentation is to show the antipode of totality as a
rejection of oneself. Antipode is a picture of how the individual actions of people stop depreciating
and become equally valuable for the whole “scene”. For this reflection, the choice of the place was
made according to the research based on the sharing presence between people. The chosen location
is the ponds, similar to the parliamentary form, in the centre of Moscow, which people equally
experience every day.
Grids of drawings develop the spatialized way of perception and gives the possibility of looking on
the whole space at once and individually on each drawing; each drawing is complicated by itself
and can be presented on its own. Still, these geometric structures present themselves as the
harmonic web of interactions and togetherness. The second work is the sculptural painting, which
brings all elements of the drawing into the one piece and at the same time, saves its individual
characteristics. The sculptural volume of the painting also highlights the distances between
situations, time phases and adds more possibilities for visual interactions.
