The artwork is a part of "XVII" series, first shown in 2017 during the solo exhibition of the same name in VLADEY Space Gallery. "Oryolchiki" is a peculiar portrait of an imaginary country called "XVII", which resembles modern Russia and its realities.
The central element of the picture is the naked heart of the country, framed by the crown of thorns of the martyr, whose main natural resources, oil and gas, are being rudely and irrationally exploited, that's why there are derricks on it. The composition of the drawing resembles a dress pattern, because the image of the country is, of course, a female image (association with an epic Russian beauty). At the places where the tucks converge, there should be female breasts through which a little black oil drops and gas blue lights are being "milked". The heart of the country continues to beat just to maintain life in the state, but, in addition to ruthless exploitation, other hardships fell on its share, for example, sharp blades which pierce the heart symbolize the past wars. Six-winged and double-headed seraphim eagles, designed to protect the heart from all misfortunes, neglect their duties - one of them is too busy playing the ball, another one licking a lollipop - that's why their name is comic, even derogatory - "eaglets" ("Oryolchiki" in Russian) as opposed to strong eagles. Their plumage resembles budgies.
“There is no love, moreover, there is nothing at all here” - the slogan written in Cyrillic is the prediction that if everything continues in the same way, an economic, and most importantly, ecological disaster will not be avoided.
