One of a series of self portraits about the Holocaust. In this painting I am portrayed as captive in a now ruined concentration camp. The background is based on a photograph of a now abandoned and unrestored portion of a Nazi concentration camp. The colors I am wearing are taken from Christian Iconography, the cap is red which symbolizes martyrdom and the blue is Lapis Lazuli which was most often used in icons because of its richness of color and for its value.
