I started creating this work sometime in the beginning of 2021. I sketched
the basic composition on paper, but then I placed the work against the wall and
returned to the topic of the coronavirus pandemic and the Anthropocene. About two weeks before
the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I wanted to start working on a new cycle,
"Brothers in Arms," and because I needed a free frame, I pulled out
this sketch. It seemed to me, that it had potential and I found a way to continue the
work. How to continue the lonely journey of man into the unknown future. However, the invasion
of Russian troops on Ukraine partly changed this path into the future, not only
with a vision of ecological, but now also a war catastrophe. Where we come from, who
we are and where we are going becomes a sad question of our near future. Still (though less and
less) I hope that the world will be a good place for all living beings on Earth
one day. That man will
eventually survive his own destiny and save the planet and himself.
