No view point is the same
This series of my artworks is composed out of oil paintings
on canvas bordered in wooden frames. The frames play an important role in these
artworks. Each painting is painted on a non vertical canvas. As a result it
seems like the viewer is looking at them from the side. The frames I made are
also out of perspective. Height and width of each side is getting smaller in
length. It occurs like one is looking at the side of the frame while standing
in front of the painting.
Paintings, especially portraits have been used to point on
someone or to survive something, but after centuries they show much more, they
present history and culture, and remind of how was those peoples view to
themselves. But when we are looking at these pieces there’s a new viewer added
whit a different perspective which causes creating new meanings.
The idea of this series, as the title reflects, is to point
to the different perspectives of people on the same topic. When we are looking
at other cultures whether to a one in the past or an existing one, we never
comprehend the same. Actually everyone has their unique point of view on a
subject and these differences in comprehension of things affects the
relationship of people and alienation between them.
