My works thematize the forests and the
significance of the trees for human existence. My father had forestry as a
profession, which characterized my childhood and upbringing. Although the
forest has been an important factor in my life the trees didn`t enter my works
until recent years. The more I discover and understand about trees the more
amazing are they and I try to convey more than a pure art experience. I aim to
visualize concerns about unscrupulous use of the planets´ resources, climate
change and global warming, and further reflect on the big issues related to
nature. The forest and nature can do without us, but we cannot do without them.
I want to create visual experiences to get the viewer to think about their own
place in the world and their relation to nature. Our further existence is about
an interacting with the nature and how willingly we are to handle the challenges
we are facing.
I work with painting, print and photographic
techniques. Several of the works are partly painted with water-soluble
charcoal, a material that originates directly from the subject in the pictures,
carbonized wood.
