Inspired by the artworks of Italian Renaissance great Michelangelo Buonarotti and French Academic master William Adolphe Bouguereau, this artwork “Newborn In The Family” depicts the joy and happiness experienced by a family at the arrival of a newborn.
At the centre of the painting is the mother holding her newborn with great affection, while the devoted husband and loving father gently caresses the head of the child. Another son of the couple climbing up her mother is trying to touch and feel his newborn brother.
The figurative work of the mother and child is inspired by William Adolphe Bouguereau’s “La Vierge aux anges” or “The Virgin With Angels” also known as “Song Of The Angels.”
Behind the couple is an old man – a member of the family reading beautiful poetry to mark and celebrate the joy of the arrival of the newborn.
The figurative work of the old man reading a book is influenced by Michelangelo’s
“ The Prophet Zechariah “ from the Sistine Chapel fresco at The Vatican.
The beautiful sunrise in the background and the flight of ecstasy of six red – whiskered bulbul birds singing songs symbolizes an overall atmosphere of joy and happiness which accompanies with the birth of a newborn.
The artwork harmoniously integrates three different art styles – Romanticism, Italian High Renaissance and French Academic style into a single artwork.
