This painting tells a story of the different phases of trauma, from its occurrence to its rebirth.
Read from left to right, the concept follows the way violence redefines how we look at ourselves and our inability to manage feelings from generational trauma. This has the power to annihilate personality, an apathy toward life and oneself.
Wilding of pain literally means the process of finding oneself again after a traumatic experience, surrendering to the rules of nature to bring peace and heal over time. Like a plant, one’s body heals. It continues working, growing and strengthening. What before was a wound, now is cicatrised and blossoming again.
This symmetry between body and nature is what brings peace to the soul, balance between what has been broken, and foundation to rebirth from it.
