"If I could say
it in words there would be no reason to paint". In this famous quote,
Edward Hopper perfectly summed up the difficulties we all face when we must
describe our feelings and emotions in a verbal communication. But at the same time,
we can be perfectly capable of expressing ourselves through painting. Like many
others, I have lived myself this situation a lot of times. For this reason, I
have decided to make this painting, to talk about how much art is helping us
with its language. However, when we paint, we are not just translating our
feelings, we are also creating something new. We can say it's like a new
creation or a new life for our feelings: a creation of feelings and sensations
through colours. I tried to use the colours, from the brightest to the dullest
to show how I visualize my inner life: gold, black, blue and purple. From the
black that represents pain, happiness emerges bright and it's so precious and
rare that only gold is worth to depict it. The centre is dominated by the
shades of blue for tranquillity and calmness, but there are some unexpected
drops of purple, because anxiety appears totally unexpected and breaks our
inner peace into tears.
