This painting is part of my project "The way we were". It's painted in a nostalgic narrative style, and the storytelling is about simple memories of my childhood. The painting is focused on my mother, while I am blurred. This focus and the black & white format are creating a reference to photography. Finally, what do we still own from our past, what steers our memory, besides some old objects and photographs? I create my paintings based upon little fragments of different old family pictures, which I assemble into new settings to create new scenes.
